There are a couple changes to our league and to the official little league baseball rules that we want to pass along:
Conshy Little League – Based on feedback from coaches and CLL families, we have decided to revamp the structure for our younger age groups:
1.) T-Ball/Instructional will now be for league age 4 & 5 year olds
- Structure will be similar to the former Instructional level with a limited game schedule and more focus on practices and teaching the game of baseball.
2.) A new “Coach Pitch” division will be for 6 year olds and any 5 year olds with a year of T-Ball experience if their parents feel they are ready
- As the division title implies, coaches will pitch to the players from a short distance. The goal is to help players prepare for the PM level and get used to hitting a moving ball.
3.) 11 year olds will be permitted to sign-up for the Minors division if they and their parents agree it would best for them.
Little League International – effective 1/1/18, a new baseball bat standard has been implemented. The basis of the change is to move to a “wood-like” standard for bat performance and phase out the composite bats (ex – ones marked with BFP 1.15).
- A list of approved bats can be found here - https://usabat.com/
- An FAQ site with additional information can be found here – link to FAQ
The league recognizes the burden of purchasing new bats for many families and is planning on providing each team in the league with a bat or two.
